Radio Advert Initial Research

Radio advertising is an effective and low-cost technique of advertising through which a business can reach a target audience. Radio ads create emotional reactions in listeners. In turn, consumers see the ads as more relevant to them personally which can lead to increased market awareness and sales for businesses running radio advertising campaign.

Message and purpose
Both adverts do not use any type of background music, I think this maybe to done so the audience can concentrate more on what is being said in the advert rather than the music.

The Tesco advert is a one off advert as it is not part of a series and is only advertising an offer that would only be available for a certain period of time, similarly the snickers advert is also an on off advert because it is not part of a series and is only advertising the snickers bar.
Another similarity between the adverts are their level of distribution as both adverts are aired nationally and only for use in Britain.

Use of contact details and potential feedback for listeners
The Tesco advert does not contain any contact details or feedback for listeners unlike the Mr T advert which gives the website for the product for the audience to find out more about it although both adverts repeat the brand/product name multiple times empathising on the brands and creating recognition for them.

The purpose of the 'Tesco price drop advert' is to announce and people inform that the supermarket currently has a lot of discounts going on and that costumers will save a lot money if they shop at Tesco and it also lists all of the products they could save money on which might attract a certain audience, therefore its purpose is to encourage costumers to buy from Tesco,

However the 'Mr T snickers advert' message is that in order to be a man you should be eating snickers, as the advert suggests that instead of the man using instructions to make something he should eat snickers and use his common sense, which might make other men feel obligated to buy snickers as its advertised as a manly thing, therefore the purpose of the advert is to encourage men to buy snickers.

Style and Use of music bed
The Tesco advert is a factual advert as it list all the products that would be featured in the price drop such as white bread, chicken soup and broccoli and also give specific information about it, yet at the same time its humorous because the male voice over which is a casual yet formal male voice over, continues to list all the items such as clotted cream and salmon at a fast pace even while the female voice over is talking, whereas the

Mr T Snickers advert is more on the aggressive side as the male voice is shouting aggressively at the other person telling them they should be eating Snickers and being a man, this also makes the advert appeal more to men as aggressive tones/things are most associated with men.
Structure and level of distribution
Persuasive techniques

A Persuasive technique used in the snickers advert is celebrity endorsement as the voice of Mr T is used and also the unique selling point that is if you eat snickers it makes you more of a strong man, because Mr T is a person who is well known as being strong and having a lot of muscle, therefore more boys/men will feel the need to buy the product in order to feel/be like Mr T, the advert also uses the well known slogan "Get some Nuts" which might stick in a persons mind and might remind them to buy the product at future times as they will always associate that slogan with the product,  the Tesco advert tells us how the special offers will benefit the costumer and also uses the slogan "Every little helps" which is a well known slogan for Tesco, and is supposed to imply that Tesco does those little things that will help you, just like the snickers advert therefore it would stick in some ones mind and they would associate with Tesco and cheaper prices every time they see or hear it.

Mmmm ..... Mmmmm.... Yeah....Mmmmm....Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
Mmmm...Yeah....Mmmm..... Yeah, Yeah

[Verse 1:]

Baby I just don't get it
Do you enjoy being hurt?
I know you smelled the perfume, the make-up on his shirt
You don't believe his stories
You know that they're all lies
Bad as you are, you stick around and I just don't know why

If I was ya man (baby you)
Never worry bout (what I do)
I'd be coming home (back to you)
Every night, doin' you right
You're the type of woman (deserves good thangs)
Fistful of diamonds (hand full of rings)
Baby you're a star (I just want to show you, you are)

[Chorus:]

You should let me love you
Let me be the one to give you everything you want and need
Baby good love and protection
Make me your selection
Show you the way love's supposed to be
Baby you should let me love you, love you, love you

[Verse 2:]

Listen
Your true beauty's description looks so good that it hurts
You're a dime plus ninety-nine and it's a shame
Don't even know what you're worth
Everywhere you go they stop and stare
Cause you're bad and it shows
From your head to your toes, Out of control, baby you know

If I was ya man (baby you)
Never worry bout (what I do)
I'd be coming home (back to you)
Every night doin' you right
You're the type of woman (deserves good thangs)
Fistful of diamonds (hand full of rings)
Baby you're a star (I just want to show you, you are)

[Chorus:]

You should let me love you
Let me be the one to give you everything you want and need
Ooh Baby good love and protection
Make me your selection
Show you the way love's supposed to be
Baby you should let me....

[Bridge:]

You deserve better girl (you know you deserve better)
We should be together girl (baby)
With me and you it's whatever girl, hey!
So can we make this thing ours?

[Chorus:]

You should let me love you
Let me be the one to give you everything you want and need
Baby good love and protection
Make me your selection
Show you the way love's supposed to be

Baby you should let me love you
Let me be the one to give you everything you want and need
That good love and protection
Make me your selection
Show you the way love's supposed to be

You should let me love you
Let me be the one to give you everything you want and need
Good love and protection(protection)
Make me your selection(selection)
Show you the way love's supposed to be yeah

[Mario (talking):]
Let me love you that's all you need baby

Making of Radio Commercial for
Plymouth City Market

The roles of the two people in the video were:

The man did the editing and the woman did the voiceover

The voice over artist has to consider:

her tone of voice and how clearly she is going to speak

Roles in a Radio Station

. Producer - oversee the operation

. voice over artist - to speak the advert

. Sound Engineer - sound and mixing/editing

. Presenter -

. journalist -

. Studio Manager -

Unit 45 Radio Commercial

Describe 3 types of radio station

  1. Internet radio / podcasts – Some stations broadcast 24/7, others are accessible more like podcasts Getting sets on such stations or even shows is reasonably easy by comparison to some of the other formats: Just listen in, spot a gap, and ask. It is perfectly possible to set up your own station or podcast too, and indeed this is how many people get started in broadcasting nowadays
  2. College/non-profit radio – Generally these are independent small concerns, where the DJs pick their own playlists entirely – great if you fancy yourself as a tastemaker DJ and want somewhere to flex your musical muscles. Reliability is key here – prove you’ll turn up for your show regularly and get things done without a fuss and you’ll win friends. Make sure to develop personal relationships with the other DJs and the owners before asking
  3. Community radio – Related to the above, community stations tend to be intensely local in flavour, and have a wide mix of programming apart from just music. Again, having a name for yourself in your community helps (a club night locally is ideal) and living in the vicinity obviously qualifies you more than an out-of-towner when you’re pitching for a show
  4. Satellite radio – Multiplexes like Sirius and XM in the States work similarly to cable TV, in that there are many different stations with their own unique programming. The chances of bagging a show on one of these specialist channels is low unless you’ve got a track record (typically from 1 to 3 above) to wave in front of their noses, and even then is going to take persistence. But if there’s a specialist show you like, you could try and befriend the presenter and land a “guest mix” to get your foot in the door
  5. Commercial/national radio – The big stations on your radio dial and increasingly on digital multiplexes. Apart for the unique BBC in the UK, these are owned by media conglomerates and subject to imposed playlist restrictions and other commercial-focuses directives. A show on one of these is a career, not a whim, and takes years of work to attain. However, the night/weekend programming can be specialist, in which case the rules from 4 above may just get you a mix – if you’re very, very lucky

Assignment 29.A Understanding the purpose of music videos

Rick Ross hustle - Promotion of a Particular song

Promoting a single of an album poses more challenges than promoting an entire album. The single sells for significantly less than an album, which requires the artist to be frugal and careful to avoid spending more on advertising that they will make in sales. Several options exist for advertising there work; take advantage of all the practical avenues that exist for promoting and selling the single. To sell the single, people must first know it exists.
The purpose of this music video was to promote a single for his MMG album. this music video is what i believe to be a mixture of both a 'Narrative based video' and a 'Performance based music video' I came to this conclusion as the music video is based fully performed by ''Rick Ross'' throughout the whole the song the reason i think its a narrative based video is because the video is based throughout miami where a story is told about the city by rick ross and how he grew up. The process of promoting a single require a few steps the first is recording your song in a studio and then upload the single to the internet.

Beyonce Drunk in Love - Promotion of an artists album

Whether an artist has sold songs before or not, producing an album is not easy, but it is rewarding. As the music producer, they'll need to manage the music talent by coaching and guiding them. The Artist in this case 'Beyonce' or her manager will have to schedule and manage the recording process as well as supervise the final mixing process. They'll also need to organise the budget and resources.

The purpose of this music video was to help promote Beyonce's Album ''Beyonce'' this music video was a mixture of both a 'Performance based music video' and a 'Concept
based music video' this is proven as the concept in this song is the name of the song itself 'Drunk in love' there is also a constant black and white effect used throughout the video. the reason I think that this is also a performance based based video is because Beyonce is on screen throughout the whole video. The process of releasing music is to first record the song or in this case an entire album, the next stage is to get these mastered – this is the process of converting the final mix into a production master, ready for duplication. This means making a master copy from which to create CD copies. Once you have your finished mastering the recordings, then it is ready to be distributed.

Lil Durk Ls Anthem - Promotion of a new artist

We usually are only aware of the process that takes place after a new major label artist has hit a critical mass point and is being prepared to be introduced to national/international fame. although normally when you hear about a “new” or “emerging” artist in the media, they’ve actually already reached respective and noticeable popularity on there own, they just haven’t reached national recognition. 'Lil Durk' is an perfect example of an artists that had reached critical fame on their own before then signing with a major label in this case 'Coke Boyz'.
The purpose of this music video was to help increase the popularity of a new artist 'Lil Durk'. The method used to do this was to bring an already extremely popular hip hop artist 'French Montana' into the song this is a very effective method because by putting 'French Montana's' name in the video means the next time someone types in his name into a search engine they are sure to come across this music video therefore allowing 'Lil Durk' a lot of spotlight from 'French Montana' fans. This is also so why there is a music video for this song as it allows people who have never seen, listened or heard of 'Lil Durk' a chance the opportunity to see the artists face.

Miley Cyrus we cant stop - Show a change in direction

Music is an ever evolving form of art, it is like a never ending river always changing direction. For that reason a genre of music is always reflective of the era from it is produced in. Nothing endures like music despite the rapidity of change, it always evolves instead to keep peoples attention. this obviously effects musicians as they must also adapt to to keep audiences interested in them as the same style of music can begin to boor people. Miley Cyrus is a perfect example of an artist who has adapted as an musician to suite her era.

The purpose of this song was to show the huge and dramatic turn around in Miley Cyrus from the young disney sweetheart to an erotic an adult artist. A reason why it is hugely beneficial to release a new music video alongside the new song for the artist first hit since their transformation is because it will gather a lot of peoples attention regardless of whether they where a fan of Miley Cyrus whilst she was still doing the 'Hannah Montana' and Disney sweetheart persona.

This is a performance based music video i came to this judgement based of the fact that the artist (Miley Cyrus) is in the majority of the video.

- Promotion of a Synergy and media product

This is when different companies work together to help promote one or more related products.

Another purpose of music video can to be to sell another media product at the same time, in the video below is promoting the speakers 'Beats pill' shown in the first few seconds of the video so they're the first thing the audience notice, also the fact that this is quite a popular artist and she is using this product my encourage people to want to buy this product as well, another product shown in the video is the EOS Lip-balm.

Increased income for the record label - Jay-z - empire state

of mind

From a record labels point of view the main purpose of all singles, music video's and albums is to make money for them and the artist they have signed.
Jay-z is the owner of the record label 'roc nation' and also produces in own music, therefore what ever money he made from this song or any music he makes goes straight to him so he makes a lot more of a profit.
